GIGS WE'VE DONE
We had a LOVELY time on tour last month, thanks LOADS to everyone who came and, especially, everyone who put us on, it was very much appreciated. The only thing i DIDN'T like about it was having to go back to work afterwards! I've also done a string of solo gigs, ranging from a DJ attic to the seafront at Southend to my own birthday party, with a whole INTERNATIONAL TOUR (Wales AND Scotland!) either side. I am now officially KNACKERED. Thank goodness I don't have an hour's worth of new material to learn up, right?
It seems like AGES since 'Regardez, Ecoutez Et Repetez' was released but it's only been about six weeks, in which time there've been LOADS of reviews. Here's a few of them for your delectation:
Adrian Denning's Album Reviews
Is This Music?
Whisperin' And Hollerin'
Keep Pop Loud
Sweeping The Nation
A Layer Of Chips
The Morning Star
And perhaps best of all, THE WEEKLY NEWS!
If any of those have persuaded you that you might like own your own copy then FEAR NOT: it's still very much available directly from us (http://www.mjhibbett.net/releases/regardezecoutezetrepetez.htm), on Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00274OC3I), on most download sites and all (remaining) Good Retailers! Get it now before it - ALMOST INEVITABLY - gets on The Mercury Prize Shortlist. For LO! I went and delivered it PERSONALLY to their offices the other week, so we are a) OFFICIALLY entered and b) SURELY the favourite for Victory?
While we were on tour we popped into Rocker's studio in Bristol to record a session for his show on Dandelion Radio. We did three songs as a full band, including The Validators' version of 'Clubbing In The Week', and a solo version of 'It Isn't Nice To Eat Your Friends' from Dinosaur Planet. They'll be broadcast throughout July on Rocker's show - full details should HERE tomorrow: http://www.dandelionradio.com/schedule.htm
Meanwhile things are are HOTTING UP in preparation for Dinosaur Planet. The show at The Lamb next Thursday will be VERY MUCH a rough run through, with it hopefully getting into some shape for Nottingham the next week and be pretty much SORTED for the London Launch. That's going to be a PARTICULARLY exciting evening, with Chris T-T co-headlining, debuting his Improvised Piano Recital.
Then it's HO! for Dinosaur Planet at The Edinburgh Fringe, with tickets available NOW (http://www.edfringe.com/ticketing/detail.php?id=13907). I've also updated the webpage (http:/www.dinosaurplanet.co.uk) and am about to start work on a super exciting VIDEO TRAILER - more news on THAT when I've actually managed to DO it!
Talking of videos, here's a rather lovely one that Fruity Film made, using two of our songs to illustrate the full length of London Underground's Piccadilly Line - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_RhVmn1LIE . It's smashing!
And finally, this month's edition of Smoke (http://home2.btconnect.com/smoke/) will feature an article what I wrote about The Midland's Embassy, the shop that sold samosas in the old St Pancras Station. I'm EXTREMELY pleased about getting something published, especially in this magazine which I think is GRATE!
And I think that's about it for now - thanks for listening, and see you next time!
